This post is all about expectations, and it starts with one of my favorite diary entries, from October 6, 2003, when I was in seventh grade. People like to deal in extremes and superlatives these days (“This the best summer ever!” or “It was literally the slowest Dunkin Donuts on the planet“) but I really mean it when I say  this is one of the funniest things I’ve ever written.
